I put you down hard,
Laid you out and we stayed there
On the boards.
My little love, my shallow breathing cause,
There you were.
Cups of not quite sweet enough tea with
Friends of varied stripes
Walks along a ghosted quay
In flippant summer garb and knockoff superstar sunglasses
I want the childhood knocks on doors displaced… returned to the proper spot on the shelf.
Help me, time. Forgive me, Mother.
Visits through a pane of glass,
Hope splashing itself on the sidewalk
Of dreams.
